Bond, Mist and Redknapp or the most unimaginative blog title ever.

Trying to get back in the groove again but also feeling lazy so I’m limiting myself to a paragraph on each thing I’ve got anything to say about.  Hardly a law on how long a paragraph can be though so there’s little-to-no-point in this self-imposed rule.

Bond – I liked it.  Suffered heavily from being sat in the second row so having to a bit of pan and scan of my own head, which isn’t the best for action-y bits.  There are a lot of action-y bits.  I had a bit of the opposite of Batman thing going on with this, in the sense that I did like The Dark Knight but don’t think it warranted the hubris and this is generally being reviewed as a bit disappointing but I thought this was a quality follow-up to Casino Royale.  Daniel Craig has very much stamped authority all over his version of bond.  The action is all good and as you’d expect there are a couple of nice looking lasses in the mix – it is all over a bit quick and there isn’t an awful lot for Craig to get his teeth into character wise but its only the occasional funny line that remind you that they’re not there.  I normally squirm a bit at cheesy Bond gags but I did actually make the noise called a laugh at his gag about winning the lottery when he was checking in a hotel.  One last point – I want to know what settings he has on his phone because he got decent pictures of people from a few hundred feet in the dark at the opera whereas I struggle to get a good one of my girlfriend in our living room with the lights on.

The Mist – here’s an odd one, a bit of  a rubbish reason for weird things happening in a film actually worked for me and I went from thinking it was a textbook Stephen King good idea gone sour (I mean come on, with the exception of the short story adaptations of none-supernatural things namely Shawshank, Green Mile and Stand By Me, the only good films from his books are The Shining –which he hated – and Misery, again not supernatural.  There’s always quite a good start to his stuff and then the reveal fucks it all up by being a big spider or something shit.) to really liking it.  The end is fucking brilliant as well.

Harry Redknapp – saggy faced twat.  Seriously though, it would take an idiot to say it wasn’t an impressive seven days for the spurs.  It would also be harsh to give no credit to ‘Arry.  But…….I mean come on if you believed the press/fans spurs are ‘saved’ already.  They’re not though are they?  I would fucking love it if they went down.  And Newcastle, but that almost goes without saying doesn’t it?  But back to spurs – isn’t much of the good feeling down to Ramos going, the relief at being allowed to eat again by the players must have been a massive pick-me-up for the players.  Though I’m sure HR calling them a triffiic bunch before selling half of them in January deserves all the credit he is getting.
